Part of our mission at York Prep is that our students, "will possess a rich and diverse knowledge base that extends beyond the requirements of the state core." Ms. Hoffman's 3rd grade class is doing just that! Last week they researched topics that interested them and presented their finding to their peers. Topics included: clean energy, wildlife, the solar system, extinct plants and animals, the history of sports, famous inventors and inventions, and ancient Egypt. On Thursday, York Prep 6th graders headed to Camp Leopold for an overnight field trip and had an amazing time! The students participated in team challenges building trust, communication and teamwork. They hiked the forest learning more about wildlife, insects, and nocturnal animal activity. They explored seasons investigating environmental changes and their impact to South Carolina waterfowl. And they got up close and personal with reptiles and amphibians learning about these creatures and their ecosystems. What an amazing experience for our students bringing them closer to nature and each other!
