We all know about the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, but have you heard about the YPA Elementary Thanksgiving Parade? Our 4th graders created original cardboard designs and paraded them down the halls, bringing excitement and smiles to our students. And of course, no Thanksgiving parade would be complete without a special visit from Santa!

In Pathways Exploration, students dedicated their efforts to completing various service projects. They created bulletin boards to promote kindness throughout the school, organized a trash pickup on campus, and packaged 120 snack bags to donate to the Pathways Community Center for the homeless. Wonderful job making an impact!

In STEAM Exploration, students had a fantastic time learning design skills using a CAD program. They got creative and crafted their very own keychain designs, which they then brought to life using York Prep's new Bambu Lab 3D Printers. The students were amazed to see their ideas turn into real, tangible creations!
In Art Exploration, students learned about printmaking! They created original designs to print using Styrofoam, explored mono prints with pizza pans, made tin foil transfer prints, and used screen printing to create their own t-shirts. Great job students!

To celebrate National American Indian Heritage Month, fifth-grade students had the opportunity to learn about the Catawba Nation from citizens Beckee Garris and Jesse Merritt. They listened to their stories and gained insights into the history and culture of the Catawba Nation. Thank you for sharing your heritage with our students!
Exploration Week gives 2nd-4th graders the opportunity to work on a special project all week in their chosen related arts class.
In PE Exploration, students had the chance to create, design, and build their own mini-golf holes. On the final day, they had a fantastic time playing through the nine-hole course they constructed!

In celebration of National American Indian Heritage Month, middle school students explored the significance of animals in various Native American cultures and created unique totems using oil pastels. We love how each totem reflects the individuality and creativity of the student who made it!
York Prep Cross Country had an exciting day at the State Qualifier on Saturday! The Varsity Girls team finished in 7th place, and the Varsity Boys team came in 10th. We’re so proud of both teams! Best of luck to the girls as they head to the state championship on Friday. Go Patriots!

Students from York Prep High School visited Winthrop University yesterday for Teacher Cadet Day. The Teacher Cadet program is a dual enrollment college course available on campus that enables students to explore the teaching profession and gain valuable classroom experience. Over the years, we have been proud to see our Teacher Cadet students choose careers in education, with some returning to teach at York Prep!
At York Prep, we offer unique experiences designed to ignite a love of learning and help students explore potential career paths for their future. Last week, we welcomed the South Carolina Aquarium to teach our 3rd graders about the salt marsh ecosystem, including its animals and plants.
In Middle School Art, 6th graders have been examining photos of eyeballs and discussing how light reflects on spheres. Each student then created an animal eye using color mixing and light reflection techniques. Great job students!

Last weekend, the High School Academic Team competed against 22 other teams at Aiken High School, achieving 7th place! Senior Madilyn Price ranked in the top 10 among 100 students in the individual competition. Huge congratulations to these students and the advisors!
