York Preparatory Academy will be operating on a 1 Hour Delay on Friday, February 7, 2020. Buses will also operate on a one hour delay. There will be no Patriot's Promise Before Care in the morning. Please use your judgement and be cautious. York Prep will be flexible with 1st period tardies tomorrow, so please take your time when traveling. School will dismiss according to our normal Friday schedule.

K5-5th Grade Intramural Softball: Deadline Extended to Friday, 2/07
York Prep is excited to announce our 3rd round of Intramural Sports Skills. We are offering softball led by Middle School PE Teacher and Coach, Coach Ferguson. Each of these programs are 6-week coed for grades K5-5th. Athletes will be grouped by grade level (groups may change depending on participation). The cost of the program is $100 and includes a t-shirt. The program fee must be paid in full by the deadline. No late registrations will be accepted.

In preparation for the 2020/2021 school year, we will offer information on high school opportunities and expectations, including AP and Dual Enrollment options. Both teachers and students will be on hand to share their experiences and answer questions.

Participants: You will have three opportunities to pick up your race packet: 1) Friday, 1/17 from Noon-3pm at the Student Union, 2) Friday, 1/17 from 5-8pm at the Student Union, 3) Saturday, 1/18 from 8-8:45am at the Student Union.
The race begins at 9:00 am and will be held rain or shine. Thank you for your support of this wonderful scholarship run benefiting our students!

A special congratulations to Anthony Navarro and Camille Bailey who both received an All-State call-back which is our first in York Prep's history. Congratulation to these students and best of luck as they prepare for their final audition.

February Breakfast and Lunch Menus are Open
February breakfast and lunch ordering is now open and will close on Monday, January 20, 2020. No late orders will be accepted. All orders, free, reduced, and full pay must be ordered and paid within the ordering period. Fun Lunch menus are also open with options such as: Southern Salads, Moe's, Shane's Rib Shack and Domino's Pizza. Fun Lunch orders do not qualify for free/reduced lunches. This Saturday at 7 pm is York Prep's Winthrop Basketball Night. Winthrop has reserved section 117 for York Prep. On arrival, please inform the ticket office at the coliseum that you are with York Prep. You will then receive a reduced priced $5 general admission ticket for section 117 which will allow you to sit in any row or seat number in section 117. Our chorus will be singing the National Anthem. Please make plans to join us for this great family event to cheer on our chorus and our YPA alumni, DJ Burns.

The Homecoming Talent Show is hosted by the YPA Beta Club and will take place on Friday, January 17, in the High School Commons. Auditions will be held in Mr. Patterson's room (Student Union 229), as follows:
* Middle School Students - January 6 and 7, 3:30pm
* High School Students - January 13 and 14, 3:30pm
Students interested in auditioning should plan a 1-2 minute performance and be prepared to supply their own materials, such as music. Additionally, any music lyrics must be clean and school-appropriate.

Registration Extended to 12/20: York Prep's Intramural Sports Skills program allows K-5th grade students the opportunity to develop sports skills under the instruction of York Prep Coaches and varsity players. Our next session will offer volleyball and basketball training and will run for 6 weeks from January 11th - February 15th. We have extended our winter registration until Friday 12/20.
