York Preparatory Academy will be celebrating Black History Month throughout February honoring men and women for their impact and legacy. Today we honor Lewis Howard Latimer for his contributions towards engineering and the creation of the telephone and light bulb. Escaping from slavery with his family at age 6, Lewis Howard Latimer taught himself drafting and worked side by side with Thomas Edison and Alexander Graham Bell leading to many engineering breakthroughs. In 1890, he went on to publish a book entitled, "Incandescent Electric Lighting: A Practical Description of the Edison System."

SUMMER CAMP 2021: Registration begins tomorrow, 2/12 for York Prep's 2021 Summer Camp open to rising Kindergarten thru rising 8th grade students. Included in the Summer Camp cost is weekly field trips, fun and educational activities, and a daily snack. York Prep students and our community are welcome to register. Space is limited.
