Understanding Your High School Schedule

York Prep High School students meet annually for their Individual Graduation Planning Meeting (IGP) to plan their classes for the following school year. At York Prep, your student has the option to take a mixture of the following classes to help prepare them for your future goals.

  • College Prep Classes: Classes taught on-campus and virtually through VirtualSC

  • Honors Classes: Classes taught on-campus and virtually through VirtualSC

  • Dual Enrollment Classes: Classes taught at the college campus or online

  • Advanced Placement Classes: Classes taught on-campus by York Prep teachers and virtually through VirtualSC

Dual Enrollment

York Preparatory Academy partners with dual enrollment programs at various colleges and universities giving students options and opportunities. York Prep supports your journey through our Partner Enrollment Program. Students who enroll in dual enrollment courses and who achieve a letter grade of an “A” or “B” will be reimbursed for tuition that they paid (excluding the cost of books or other fees) for those classes.

Applying For College

COLLEGE APPLICATION DAY

College Application Day happens each September! College representative will be available to answer questions and help you complete your college applications to 4-year and 2-year colleges and universities. Feel free to make an appointment with your Guidance Counselor for additional college application help.

SCHOLARSHIP SUPPORT

The college application and scholarship search can be overwhelming at times! Here are a few suggestions to make the process more streamlined.

  1. Start your scholarship search process with the colleges and universities that you know you will be applying to for admission.

  2. Check out state specific scholarships! South Carolina State Scholarships include the Palmetto Fellows, Life and Hope scholarships. Details can be found at https://ed.sc.gov/newsroom/scholarships/.

  3. Visit scholarship search engines to see what you qualify for including https://opportunity.collegeboard.org/ and https://www.fastweb.com/.

  4. Pursue local scholarships or those associated with your parent's employer.

  5. Apply for the Patriot Scholarship through York Prep!
